We are a
Christian Hybrid Homeschool where community and creativity are celebrated.
Co-laboring with families to mold innovative leaders through Project-Based Learning, critical thinking, and discipleship.
Co-laboring with families to mold innovative leaders through Project-Based Learning, critical thinking, and discipleship.
We are NOT traditional. We are NOT progressive. We are a growing model of hybrid school focused on the development of the whole person (mind, body, soul, and spirit). There is no "spoon fed" education here. We embrace deep community, clear communication, creativitand adventure... all as we grow in our love for Christ.
We aim to spark a curiosity and a passion for learning by engaging your student in hands-on learning, artistry, outdoor adventures and group engagement.
To do this, we create an environment where your student can learn to become a problem solver, self-propelled learner, critical thinker, and an artist.
As a hybrid school, Ignite Creative School seeks to partner with families to help create a comprehensive education that honors your student's needs. We prioritize community, leadership opportunities, Christ-centered discipleship, and personal accountability. Reflecting these goals, our core curriculum time integrates Project Based Learning (PBL), critical thinking, and deep understanding. In this way, your student has the opportunity to achieve true understanding of curricula and culture in ways that help facilitate a love of learning and connect the "what" to the "why".
In addition, your student will experience more in-depth learning during our daily hands-on "Journey" time. These intensive-style opportunities allow your student to delve into art, lifeskills, or tech skills with curiosity, personal focus, and concentration as well as through small group participation. By introducing your child to various skills and concepts in a concentrated time frame, he or she can explore in more depth new ideas, existing interests, and personal talents and gifts (James 1:17).
As a christian school, Ignite Creative School puts Christ and His Word at the center of all we do, regardless of cultural influence. This includes holding to His boundaries the Bible has set for our lives and how the Bible represents God-centered community. These principals are the central focus of ICS and expressed in our culture.
God has not made any one of us exactly alike. Holding to Biblical Christianity as our foundation, we embrace our different ways of problem-solving, communicating, and expressing creativity. It is in this way that we learn to be unique in our gifts but united in our desire to follow Jesus.
Each person is made in the image of God. This is foremost on our minds as we communicate with each other - even in conflict. Our instructors and families hold to a standard of honor for one another when we talk and learn together. To help with this, we learn how to communicate our emotions (when needed) and how to integrate that into God-honoring relationships.
Our staff, instructors, students and families vary in gifts, talents, and interests. Our community aims to see gifts and talents as equally beneficial to the body of Christ. Everyone has distinct, God-given purpose.
A Hybrid School (or Hybrid Homeschool) is known as “a very new and up-and-coming school choice that melds the best of a private/public school and homeschool together" (One Room Schoolhouse). Students attend the hybrid school for the majority of their academic instruction, and then complete the remaining work at home. Although a hybrid in-class/homeschool model, your child is still considered a homeschool student per state law.
Unlike co-ops or other types of parent-led groups, hybrid schools have paid teachers and instructors that handle the weekly lessons in each core subject offered. In addition, students attend class with their teacher(s) and other students in a classroom setting. For this reason, hybrid schools are an exciting addition to Christian education - allowing for parents to have free time to work and manage the home. Meanwhile, students engage with other students in a brick-and-mortar school environment where they receive outside instruction.
Hybrid homeschool means that your child is still considered a homeschool student according to the state, and all proper paperwork must be submitted to both county school districts to validate this type of education. When your student is home they will be working on needed classwork.
All grades will meet for two semesters, 16 weeks per semester*, starting Tuesday September 9th. We meet three days a week - Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. (Note: Your child can attend two days or three days, depending on what best suits your family's needs).
Mondays and Thursdays: We start each day with group discussion and prayer. Mondays and Thursdays we will do core curriculum** time from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. At noon we do lunch and recess/social time. Following lunch we continue our core studies until 2:00. Then we move into our hands-on learning session from 2:00-3:25 PM. This time is known as "Journey". On Monday and Thurday Journey often has instruction but can be an "open studio" time for students to work on their project assignments for this class. Journeys can vary and have included: photography, watercolor, film, film editing, music, drama, painting, etc.
Tuesdays: We start each day with group discussion and prayer. From 9:00-11:30 AM, students have time allowance for teacher assistance or study hall, time to work on group discussions or assignments, quarter projects, or Journey projects. We do lunch 11:30-12:30 PM. After lunch we do our longer day of hands-on learning ("Journey") with instruction and both individual and group work.
School ends each day at 3:25 PM. Pick Up is at 3:35 PM.
All non-school days are expected to be school-at-home days with parents able to help when needed. Often older students find little need for parent assistance, however younger learners often need clarification or help with vocabulary, reading comprehension, or guided learning. As a hybrid homeschool, parents are expected to be the primary educator at home.
Ignite Creative School recognizes that it is a family’s right to be an integral and motivating force in their child’s education;
children are ultimately accountable to their parents and to God for their learning and behavior.
With this in mind, Ignite Creative School is a learning environment with high moral values as taught and exemplified
by the Biblical life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Each instructor will teach those things that are known to be pure, lovely,
virtuous, and praiseworthy as described in the Bible. When needed, we will tackle current and historical issues through
the lens of the Gospel, always inviting honest conversation and welcoming questions.
When/if needed, we may ask parents to be a part of our conversations to hear what students are curious or concerned about, so that they can stay informed on how the culture is seen through their students’ eyes (and also for parents to decide if further conversation at home is necessary).
